Why Research Analytics?
In-depth research analytics provide insight into the positioning of the research fields and identify important patterns and trends within the research domains. Research analytics introduces researchers and faculties with a toolbox – a collection of various data sources and powerful, yet easy-to-use, analysis and visualization tools.
Insight in collaboration opportunities with other universities and how the research areas of universities, faculties and individual researchers relate to research carried out in different parts of the world can be valuable for numerous reasons: Individual researchers within the university need to digest the state of the art in their field for new, convincing research proposals. The university itself and its faculties need to be aware of trends within their research areas for strategic decisions. Above all, researchers and universities can benefit from effective and new inter-university collaborations.
Scientific publications offer the main resource for the identification of world-wide research trends. In addition, non-scientific publications and mentions in various social and societal channels are considered as indicators of research relevance.
For whom?
Research analytics toolbox will help a wide range of end users – such as PhD candidates, researchers, group leaders, and university policymakers – to position their research, identify important trends within their area of interest, or to develop innovative research lines.
