Inter - and transdisciplinary
More often scientific discoveries, economical innovations and societal renewals take place at the boundaries of disciplines and require input from multiple fields. Often it’s necessary to combine knowledge from different fields to explore a topic from multiple perspectives or to be able to develop a technology.
Performing interdisciplinary research, one does not stick to one’s own discipline or field but disciplines melt together to come to solutions. Scientists combine their different perspectives and ideas.
Transdisciplinary research is the ultimate form of interdisciplinary research. Concepts, methods and axioms from different disciplines are fully integrated in one general scientific theory. In this way insights arise that do justice to the complexity of reality.
