Ruipeng Xu

My name is Ruipeng Xu, I came from Xuzhou which is a relatively small city in the east part of China Mainland. During the past nine years, I obtained my bachelor and master degree in Aerospace Engineering. My major was aerodynamics and overall design of fixed wing aircrafts. After graduation, I choose to be a research assistant in Zhejiang University and later on a structural engineer in XCMG. I start my PhD in transport phenomenon group in February 2022.

Research

During the PhD studies I will be working on the CFD simulations of airflow in lungs and medical drug delivery optimization strategies. My project is under the supervision of Prof Sasa Kenjeres. Through my PhD study, the target is to get the patient-based airflow simulation strategies based on the CT or MRI scanned lung models and achieved the balance between accuracy and simulation resources. Then to investigate the performance of current medical drug delivery tools and provide the strategies of optimization. With the project been carried out, the result shall support the treatment and immune of disease in respiratory system and the development in novel breath powered drug delivery system.
