Programme

Curriculum

All EWEM tracks consist of a  two-year joint programme of 120 ECTS  and are characterised by a:

  • General introduction to Wind Energy: held at DTU,  it involves the course  of “Wind Turbine Technology and Aerodynamics” (10 ECTS), which is meant to give the student an overview of the current wind energy technology as well as of the historical, economical and political aspects related related to wind energy. Further core and elective courses depend on the chosen track.
  • Internship (6-9 ECTS): compulsory for students of the Wind Farms and Atmospheric Physics track only, elective for students of Electrical Power Systems and Rotor design tracks. The internship can be carried out at a EWEM associated partner or at a different institution, provided that the content of the internship is accepted by the university awarding the ECTS. The internship gives the student the opportunity to evaluate professional standards with respect to sustainable development, project and risk management, value management, health and safety management, knowledge management, business operation and organisational culture, policies and processes.
  • M.Sc. thesis (30-45 ECTS): the thesis work can be carried out at any EWEM associated partner and must be jointly supervised by supervisors from the two partners awarding the diploma for the specific track. The topic may involve a third party and is agreed upon by the student together with the two degree awarding partners, verifying feasibility and quality of the research questions and methodology. The graduation project can be mono or multidisciplinary and is worth 30 ECTS for Wind Farms and Atmospheric Physics students. For all other students the graduation project is worth 45 ECTS, whereby 15 ECTS are earned by the student during the 3rd semester through literature review, definition of the research question and methodology and by selection of the tools, whereas 30 ECTS are accomplished during the 4th semester through thesis development and reporting.

Specializations

4 Tracks

The EWEM programme is structured into 4 different tracks:

These specialisations examine different aspects of the energy conversion chain and are mutually linked by their applications to the wind energy industry.

2 Degrees

Diploma

As an EWEM graduate you’ll receive a double degree. An overview of the awarded degrees and the partner universities is given in the table below.
