Always wanted to make your own bowl or tray? Now you can! During the OWEE we offer you a free ceramics workshop in which you can make your own bowl or tray with coasters. Next time you serve your friends a cold drink, you can use your DIY made tray and coasters!
Clay is a material with enormous potential that has been used centuries to make everyday objects, from pottery, tableware, tiles and bricks. When clay is fired in a hot air kiln, the material transforms in its definite shape.
Starting Tuesday 17/08 till Friday 20/08 you can join two types of ceramics workshops for free!
Bowl workshop
13:30 – 15:30
In this workshop you will make a bowl by working with small pieces of clay in a mould. After making the bowl you can decorate it with stencils and engobe. This is a liquid clay with which you can paint.
Tray and coaster workshop
16:00 – 18:00
In this workshop you will make a tray with coasters from marbled clay. After making the items you can decorate them with structure stamps.
The teacher for this workshop will be Ellen Rijsdorp; Ellen studied at the school of arts in Kampen and the Ceramics Academy in Gouda. Since 1991 she has been working as an independent ceramist. She has been a teacher in ceramics since 2010 and worked at different organizations like the Ceramics Academy in Gouda, VAK Delft and X.
Please note that these workshops take place during the Owee and this means that participants can walk by and ask questions.
