Lunch lecture: Hydraulic Engineering in Argentina

Argentina, with more than 5,000 km maritime coastline, its 1,600 km stretch of the Paraná-Paraguay waterway connecting five South American economies and its numerous lakes and extensive floodplain areas is a country where Hydraulic Engineering plays a crucial role for sustainable development of the 8th largest country in the world (by means of km2). Pablo Arecco, Civil Engineer from the University of Buenos Aires and MSc Hydraulic Engineer from TU Delft will showcase the country’s main hydraulic infrastructure projects, providing some insights on their main characteristics, existing challenges and research opportunities they may offer. The presentation intends to trigger the interest of enthusiastic students and researchers, it also shows the available resources to facilitate investigation projects under the long-lasting MoU between the Post-Graduate School of Ports & Waterways (EGIP www.graduadosportuaria.com.ar) of the University of Buenos Aires and TU Delft.

About The Delta Futures lab

The Delta Futures lab is a multidisciplinary network for MSc-students, staff and practice with the ambition to become interdisciplinary leaders in spatial design, engineering and governance of deltas. The Lab unites master students, researchers and professionals in multidisciplinary projects. It enriches and supports master students in becoming the mission-oriented engineers that future delta societies need. 

The Friday lunch lectures are on the state-of-the-art and state of the future developments of deltas. The lectures are online and open to all students, researchers and professionals interested in dealing with future challenges of Delta regions. The participants form a broadly international and interdisciplinary group. With participants joining from the engineering, planning and design fields, originating from the Netherlands, Ghana, Mexico, Myanmar and Vietnam.
