Maarten Wetselaar
Arguably the greatest challenge of our time is meeting the world’s growing demand for energy while reducing emissions. Maarten is passionate about working to deliver the solution.
With a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Groningen and a post doctorate Controllers degree from VU University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, he joined Shell in 1995. Since then, he has held a variety of financial, commercial and general management roles in Shell’s downstream and trading businesses in Europe, Brazil and Ghana.
He continued his career in Shell’s Upstream Oil and Gas business, holding financial and commercial Vice President roles in the Middle East and Russia/CIS. In 2009, he became Executive Vice President Finance in Upstream International. From 2013 to 2015, he served as Executive Vice President for Integrated Gas out of in Singapore.
Since 2016, he has served on Shell's Executive Committee as the Director for Integrated Gas and New Energies based in the Netherlands.
