Understanding why certain materials work better than others when it comes to storing energy is a crucial step towards developing the batteries that will power electronic gadgets, electric vehicles and renewable power grids. Researchers at Drexel University and Delft University of Technology have developed a new technique that can track the electrolytes inside energy storage mechanisms quicky and precisely.

A new research project by DRIFT, Erasmus UPT, TU Delft and CIEP explores the implications of geopolitical developments for energy security in the Netherlands and the ARRRA cluster (Antwerp-Rotterdam-Rhine-Ruhr Area). Based on future scenarios, the H2ToBe project now comes up with eight investment strategies for (port) industry and government. TPM researchers Aad Correljé and Toyah Rodhouse contributed to the project.

De huidige geopolitieke verhoudingen geven Aad Correljé weinig hoop op een ontspannen toekomst. “Veel genoemde oplossingen voor de energiecrisis zijn gericht op het vergroten van de rol van duurzame energie op de langere termijn. Maar daar redden we het de komende jaren zeker niet mee.” Volgens Correljé kan energie wel eens de volgende echte crisis worden.

On the recommendation of Minister Jetten for Climate and Energy, the Dutch government has approved the appointment of nine new members of the Scientific Climate Council (WKR). Among them are TU Delft researchers Kornelis Blok and Behnam Taebi. The council advises the government on climate policy, based on independent scientific expertise.

Via de Nationale Klimaatraadpleging gelanceerd door Niek Mouter, kunnen alle Nederlanders boven de achttien hun mening geven over welke wegen Nederland moet bewandelen om in 2050 klimaatneutraal te zijn. Het initiatief komt uit de Tweede Kamer. "In plaats van alleen ambtenaren, kunnen ook burgers nu meepraten."
