Grids
Abstract
The goals of the T-Grid project are to intensify the cooperation between universities in the EU and China in both education and research and to promote education and research in high performance and grid computing in China. The project will help to train staff from the partner universities in China, to jointly supervise PhD students within a sandwich scheme. In the project also a joint course module in high performance computing and grid technology will be developed for graduate students in computational science and engineering, computer science, and other engineering disciplines. It also aims to help the partner universities in China to initialize and/or improve their education program in this area through working visits and staff training programs. The developed course will be jointly taught by different professors at the participating universities using modern ICT means such as the Internet. The course comprises an assignment which is to be studied by teams of students, where each team consists of students from different countries. This will provide the students an opportunity for learning how to apply the theory to solve practical problems and for gaining experience on how to cooperate with people at long distance in the wake of globalisation and web/grid technology.
