Graduating student Rens de Graaf

On average, Dutch people have to deal with the legal system at least once in their lives.

“For many, this is a complicated and sometimes even scary situation”, knows Rens de Graaf (Industrial Design Engineering). For his graduation project, he researched this process. “For example, a summons is full of jargon and it is often unclear where you can go to get help.”

On behalf of the district court of Noord-Holland, he therefore developed a new process for the subdistrict court. “The summons is now accompanied by a leaflet with visual explanations of the rules of play and the next steps in the process. Together with the district court of Noord-Holland I’m now working on a pilot.”

He received a ten for his graduation project.
