Profile

Dr. Dingshan Sun is a postdoc in the department of Transport & Planning. He received the bachelor's degree from Northeastern University , China, in 2015, and the master's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2018. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the Delft Center for Systems and Control, Delft University of Technology, Delft, the Netherlands, in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Bart De Schutter and Dr. Anahita Jamshidnejad. Now he is involved in the project XCARCITY.

Research

Dingshan's research interests include Model predictive control, Reinforcement learning, Grammatical evolution, Parameterized control, Multi-level control, and Intelligent transportation systems. Now, in the XCARCITY project, he mainly focuses on developing modeling, optimization, and control approaches for multi-modal transportation networks, which include multiple users, such as cars, public tranport, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.

He is also interested in decentralized or distributed control methods that combine model-based control methods (e.g., model predictive control) and learning-based algorithms (e.g., reinforcement learning) to address the control problem of large-scale traffic networks.
