Khaqan Ahmed is a young and exuberant researcher in the field of transportation engineering. He did his Bachelor's degree in Transportation Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, Pakistan in 2018. He then moved to South Korea on a research scholarship to pursue his Master's degree in Transportation Systems Engineering at Korea National University of Transportation in Uiwang. There he worked as a graduate research assistant at the Smart Traffic Research Lab. After completing his Master's Degree in 2021, he moved to Netherlands in 2022. In Netherlands he joined TU Delft as a PhD at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geo-sciences at the faculty of Transport and planning under supervision of Dr.ir.Simeon Calvert and Prof. dr. ir. Serge Hoogendoorn. He is also part of the Data Analytics and Traffic Simulation (DiTT) Lab and TULIPS project at TU Delft.
Research
At TU Delft, Khaqan's research is focused towards traffic modelling and impact assessment for sustainable integrated traffic management. Apart from this his research interests also include but not limited to traffic and transportation network modelling and simulation, traffic safety and control, intelligent transport system, traffic signal timing and autonomous vehicles.
