Ponni Maya
Ponni Maya obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics From Kerala University, India. She then joined her masters in Physical Oceanography from the Department of Oceanography, Cochin University of science and technology , Kerala ,India in 2019. In 2021 she graduated with distinction defending her master thesis titled" THE INTERANNUAL AND DECADAL SEA LEVEL VARIABILITY OVER THE INDO-PACIFIC OCEANS IN THE REANALYSIS AND CMIP6 HISTORICAL SIMULATIONS AND PROJECTIONS" . Ponni is now investigating long-term impacts on wave resources at varied depths, looking into numerical modelling.
Research
Ponni Maya is a PhD Candidate at the Offshore Engineering Department of Delft University of Technology since February 2022. Her research focus on the on long-term impacts on wave resources at varied depths, looking into numerical modelling. It investigate how to reduce uncertainties and improve spectral numerical wave models, done via statistical or machine learning approaches. The work will consider past and future Climate Change wave scenarios, followed by investigation fluid structure interaction for offshore energy farms that may be quantified as mitigation methods. These will provide the basis for assessing untapped “hidden” mitigation potential that can emerge by the rapid development of offshore energies.
