Sponsorship for Assistant/Associate Professor Geothermal Science and Engineering
During the Geothermal Get-Together on 29 November 2018, it was announced that research on Geothermal Science and Engineering at TU Delft got another boost. A consortium of seven partners signed a certificate for sponsoring an Assistant/Associate Professor.

NWO funds 5 CEG research projects into deep subsurface processes under the Netherlands
NWO awarded more than 4 million euros to 5 innovative research projects from the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences (CEG) for research into the effect of human interventions deep under the ground.

Hadi Hajibeygi Innovative Teaching Talent 2018
Hadi Hajibeygi, assistant professor in the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences has been elected Innovative Teaching Talent 2018. He lectures on the courses, Reservoir Simulation, Rock Fluid Physics and Advanced Reservoir Simulation, and set up the DARSIM research group.

Geothermal research at TU Delft gets a boost
While most people did not think about heating their houses during the last hot summer months, researchers at TU Delft did exactly that (and not just the last months). Scientists involved in geothermal research have good reasons to look forward: the Board of the University has made a decision-in-principle for a next step towards realising a geothermal research well.

Every year, TU Delft's eight faculties nominate their best graduates. At the ‘Best Graduate’ ceremony, each of the nominees presents a pitch on their graduation project. This year Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences nominated Yanni Villa Acuña.

Vibrations from underground nuclear test travel into atmosphere via earth and ocean
Noord-Korea heeft sinds 2006 vijf ondergrondse kernproeven uitgevoerd op hun nucleaire testlocatie Punggye-ri in het noordoosten van het land. De meest recente en krachtigste proef vond plaats op 3 september 2017. Onderzoekers van de TU Delft (Shahar Shani-Kadmiel, Pieter Smets and Läslo Evers) en KNMI hebben zowel de seismische als akoestische signalen van deze meest recente proef onderzocht.

CEG alumna Martha Deen wins Marina van Dammebeurs 2018
Can we combat climate change by drawing energy from the ocean? Martha Deen, alumna Applied Earth Sciences, has the ambition to map the potential of marine energy. She convinced a jury and won the Marina van Damme scholarship 2018 for female alumni of TU Delft.

Dutch contribution to European Plate Observatory System awarded
The department of Geoscience & Engineering is part of EPOS-NL, the Dutch contribution to the European infrastructure for geosciences, natural hazards and geo-resources. This project is one of the ten awarded proposals in the National Roadmap for Large-Scale Scientific Infrastructure by NWO.
