Research Schools
Graduate School A+BE cooperates with two Dutch research schools that offer PhD training programmes in areas relevant to A+BE research. Although these programmes are primarily aimed at members of these research schools, individual courses are also open to other PhD candidates (usually for a fee). Have a look:
NETHUR
The Netherlands Graduate School of Urban and Regional Research is a joint initiative of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Radboud University Nijmegen (RU), University of Groningen (RuG) and Utrecht University (UU), which hosts the secretariat. NETHUR covers the fields of urban, regional and housing research. It is dedicated to the study of cities and regions, both as built environments and as social entities. NETHUR has a dual mission: to generate a solid base of knowledge about cities and regions, and to train young scholars to conduct independent research in these fields. The graduate school is accredited by The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
OSK
The Dutch Postgraduate School for Art History (known as OSK) connects the departments of art history and architectural history of seven Dutch universities: Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Leiden University, Radboud University Nijmegen (RU), University of Groningen (RuG), University of Amsterdam (UvA), Utrecht University (UU) and VU University Amsterdam. They are joined by six important sister institutes: The New Institute, Rotterdam; Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD), The Hague; Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (National Association for Cultural Heritage); Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; and Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.
PhD candidates from TU Delft (Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment) are very welcome to participate in OSK PhD courses. OSK and the Graduate School A + BE have made special agreements concerning the participation of PhD candidates in the OSK programme. If you would like to take part in an OSK course, please contact both your promotor and the department for approval. The Graduate School A + BE will then contact OSK to enroll you. After successful participation you will receive a certificate from OSK, stating the amount of ECTS earned. Your GS will convert this to GS-credits and register them.
