Professor Fulong Wu will be visiting professor at the faculty in June 2017 and Fall semester 2017. Professor Fulong Wu is Bartlett Professor of Planning at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. His research includes China’s urban development and planning and its social and sustainable challenges. He is among the top 50 most cited human geographers in the world according to Social Science Citation Index (SSCI, ‘h-index’).
He has published many papers on urban spatial structure, urban housing and land development, and is working on China's urbanism and urban development, urban and regional governance, urban poverty, and social spatial differentiation. He is co-editor of Restructuring the Chinese City (Routledge, 2005), Marginalization in China (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010), International Perspectives on Suburbanization (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011), editor of Globalization and the Chinese City (Routledge, 2006), China’s Emerging Cities (Routledge, 2007), and co-author of Urban Development in Post-Reform China: State, Market, and Space (Routledge, 2007), and China’s Urban Poverty (Edward Elgar, 2010).
Professor Fulong Wu and its host department Management in the Built Environment share an integrated and interdisciplinary view of the management processes of the built environment. Professor Fulong Wu has a specific focus on emerging Chinese cities, Chinese urban system plan, urban strategic plan, master plan, land reform, real estate and housing. In recent years, he increasingly paid attention to the social, environmental and governance challenges involved in urban development.With the special China focus, professor Wu’s research, broad interest and expertise and interdisciplinary research approach is well positioned to catch the interest, the research and education in all departments and OTB within the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment.
