Biography

Humans and robots could make excellent teams: robots can complement human abilities and the adaptive human can maintain system integrity, for example in situations that are unknown to the robot. I am interested in researching physical interactions between humans and intelligent robots, in particular when the robot’s design boundaries or the human’s abilities are reached.

I graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology. After one year as graduate student at the Aeronautics and Astronautics department at MIT, I did my Ph.D. on physical human-human interaction at University of Twente in the Netherlands. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Delft Haptics Lab of the Cognitive Robotics group and I am a member of the TU Delft’s AiTech program on meaningful human control of intelligent systems.

After I am done working on human-robot interaction, I enjoy climbing, mountain biking, and the outdoors in general.
