Professor Nitesh Bharosa appointed crown member of the SER
The Council of Ministers has appointed Nitesh Bharosa of TU Delft as crown member of the Social and Economic Council (SER). Bharosa will advise the government, mainly on the theme of digitalisation. The appointment is valid for the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026.
Nitesh Bharosa is a professor of GovTech & Innovation and Academic Director at Digicampus. His research focuses on the public-private co-creation of digital solutions for societal challenges. Bharosa is one of the pioneers in GovTech, a field that is still rapidly evolving, and he has an extensive network of companies, governments, and knowledge institutions. During his tenure as a crown member, Bharosa is committed to realising easy and secure digital solutions for citizens and professionals in the public sector. This requires a task-oriented distribution of work between the market, government, and civil institutions in digitisation.
About the SER and its crown members
The Social and Economic Council is the primary advisory body for the government and parliament on socio-economic issues. The crown members in the SER are independent experts with expertise in various socio-economic areas. The crown members are appointed by the king on the recommendation of the cabinet. Their task is to bring in knowledge and represent the public interest. Additionally, they serve as bridges between employer and employee members. In addition to the crown members, the SER is composed of representatives of employer and employee organisations.
