Maison d'Artiste returned to faculty
After a year-long tour as part of '100 Years of Myth Maison d'Artiste', the scale model has now returned to the faculty.
In 1923, Maison d'Artiste was designed by Cor van Eesteren and Theo van Doesburg in Paris. A world-famous design, but never built. Led by Prof Mick Eekhout, students reconstructed the geometry and the color composition from black-and-white photographs in 2002. They engineered it as a small building and build it in the Prototype Laboratory in 2003. Emeritus Professor Mick Eekhout developed in 2022 a high-tech development. In the year 2023 it was part of a travelling exhibition ‘100 Years Myth Maison d’Artiste’ through eight landings. In Dutch newspaper NRC it was regarded as “the bravest house ever designed”.
