Phil Vardon appointed as professor of Energy Geomechanics

Phil Vardon was appointed professor of Energy Geomechanics last week. Phil investigates how the subsurface can provide safe and efficient sustainable geothermal energy. "There's a lot of need right now to get this technology working." Phil strives to bring scientific and industrial partners together and collaborate on solutions. "I like to contribute to the knowledge about spatial variability and geomechanics. How this will affect the long-term sustainability of geothermal projects? And how can we prevent unwanted effects?"

Phil is currently working on a major project to realize a geothermal well on our campus.
