Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment rises to top 2 position in QS Subject ranking
The World University Rankings by Subjects 2020, published today, places TU Delft's discipline 'Architecture and the Built Environment' in second place. Dean Dick van Gameren: "The confirmation of our position in the QS World University Ranking, even a rise to a higher position, is a more than deserved compliment for the continuous commitment and energy of our faculty community.”
"Together, our community is committed to making a leading global contribution to finding answers to the major challenges in the built environment," he continues. Tim van der Hagen, rector magnificus and president of the executive board, is very pleased with the results, too. “In the various rankings in recent years you can see that the competition is getting ever stronger and that new parties are competing to reach the top. The fact that TU Delft is going from strength to strength in a large number of disciplines is a nice compliment to everyone who is committed to the quality of our education and research. These lists are an inspiration for continuing to invest in quality.”
QS Subject Rankings
In addition to the yearly World University Ranking, QS issues separate Subject Rankings. This year, 1,368 universities were ranked in 48 subject areas. The subjects are divided into five faculty areas. TU Delft has been ranked 21 times: in all five faculty areas and in sixteen subjects. The rankings are compiled based on the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, citation per paper and the H-index. The weighting varies per subject area.
