Marinus van Haaften receives NWO Doctoral Grant for Teachers
Marinus van Haaften has received a Doctoral Grant for Teachers. He is one of twenty-six laureates. The grants provide teachers with an opportunity to further develop their capabilities and strengthen ties between universities and schools. Van Haaften is researcher at TPM and works for Inholland University of Applied Sciences. His research focuses on Forecasting production and modelling the market supply of greenhouse vegetables.
Forecasting model
Van Haaften will develop a gaming simulation to reduce disparities between forecasts and market supply. It also seeks to improve harvest forecasts and map the strategic behaviour of chain partners. A more accurate forecasting model will stabilise relationships between chain partners. This model and clarity regarding strategic behaviour will result in a more balanced market supply.
About the Doctoral Grant for Teachers
The Doctoral Grant for Teachers was launched in 2011. Every year, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science makes 9.5 million euros available for these PhD trajectories. NWO evaluates and selects the applications. It is important that the knowledge and experience gained from the PhD research benefits science and educational practice.
