6 December 2019 | 10:30 - 14:00
Delft University of Technology, Bouwcampus,
Van der Burghweg 1, Delft, Room A0.360-Wit licht

Background

The concept of circularity is seen as a next phase of the sustainable city. It has been used as a new buzzword by a diverse set of actors to tackle societal challenges such as the reduction of carbon emission, the reuse of materials and the promotion of sustainable cities and regions. While it is essential to introduce society as a whole the importance and relevance of circular systems, it is also crucial to explore the knowledge of current and future practitioners to foster the entrepreneurial and innovation skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for the entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Aim of the workshop

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the challenge of transitioning towards a regional Circular Economy. You will be acquainted with existing environmental assessment databases and (quantitative) tools helping you to identify and prioritize resource flows and economic activities.

Lessons learned

After the workshop, you will have learned:

  • What a regional Circular Economy from an environmental economics perspective is about;
  • How databases and tools can help you to environmentally assess potentials for action (which flows / industries to target) in relation to the economic impact; and
  • Have some hands-on experience with using the CIRCUMAT-tool.
