Propopi - Towards pro-poor private investments in water supply in Kota Bandung
The overall goal is to improve water supply (pro poor access and quality) in Bandung, Indonesia. Hereto the following outcomes are foreseen:
A) Poverty alleviation: provide drinking water to an additional 35.000 people in Bandung, building 120 stand posts serving 12.000 poor people located in 12 currently unconnected districts.
B) Enabling environment: Improve service levels for 300.000 people (conversion from intermittent to full water supply, increment of production capacity and improvement of water quality). Build technical and management capacity within PDAM to promote sustainable operation of its services. Increase the general awareness and ownership levels amongst poor customers to improve future billing behaviour. Modification and optimization of the water treatment plants at Badiksinga. Generate 45 km of new pipeline to connect previously unconnected districts to the distribution network. Demonstrate how water utilities can create enough capacity to successfully mobilise private investments.
C) Business case: Lower non-revenue water levels by 20%
