Welcoming the new hEAT Lab co-director Dr. Irene Martinez
We are happy to announce that Dr. Irene Martinez will join the hEAT lab on August 15th as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of the Civil Engineering and Geosciences faculty, Department of Transport & Planning. Dr. Irene Martinez obtained her Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine earlier this year.
Her research interest is on traffic flow theory and control in the era of autonomous, connected, and shared mobility. Her goal is to develop traffic models and management strategies leveraging the new (available and upcoming) technologies to reduce congestion and improve the transportation system overall. She has worked on the design of multiple management strategies, such as Variable Speed Limits, High-Occupancy-Toll lanes, and fleet sizing of shared mobility systems. Irene has received, among other awards, the "ITS California Fellowship in 2021" and the "Young Researchers TRA VISIONS 2018 Second place award”.
We want to welcome Irene to the team!
