Christopher Szymula and Nikola Bešinović participated in the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). INFORMS is an international society for practitioners and academics in the fields of operations research, management science, and analytics.
Christopher Szymula won the Best Student Paper Award given by INFROMS Railway Application Section. He presented his research titled Passenger-centered Vulnerability Assessment of Railway Networks, supervised by Nikola Bešinović. Nikola presented an ongoing research on Integrated Train and Passenger Disruption Management: Simulation-based Optimization Approach. This is a joint work with Yihui Wang, Songwei Zhu and Tao Tang, from State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety, Beijing Jiaotong University and Rob M.P.
