Dr. M.G. (Mukund) Gupta

Profile

I am an Assistant Professor at TU Delft working in the department of Geoscience and Remote Sensing since November 2023. I completed my Ph.D. in climate science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020, followed by work in physical oceanography and sea ice dynamics at the California Institute of Technology.

Research

My research is motivated by the interactions between the oceans, the cryosphere and the carbon cycle. I am interested in understanding the behavior of this coupled system, spanning the role of global-scale currents, kilometer-wide ocean turbulence and individual pieces of sea ice. I use a range of tools to probe these processes, including Large Eddy Simulations, Discrete Element Models, Global Climate Models and remote sensing.
