AI Futures Lab consortium partner in new project User vulnerabilities and Resilience on SOCIAL media platforms and the metaverse (RESOCIAL)

The AI Futures Lab has received additional funds from the Nationale Wetenschapsagenda (NWA) programme as partner in the project User vulnerabilities and Resilience on SOCIAL media platforms and the metaverse (RESOCIAL) on ‘vulnerability and resilience in an online society’. The RESOCIAL project, led by Dr. Gianclaudio Malgieri (Leiden University), addresses online vulnerabilities and resilience on social media platforms and the metaverse by evaluating risks, legal gaps, and proposing solutions through interdisciplinary collaboration.

ELLIS Munich-Delft Meetup

In an effort to make new and strengthen existing connections, a delegation of ELLIS Unit Delft visited ELLIS Munich and some of the most renowned AI research institutions in Munich area on the 25th and 26th of January 2024. The delegation consisted of people from TU Delft’s cognitive robotics department, and the sequential decision making group.

Dr. Dave Murray-Rust co-edits special issue ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction

In this special issue, the aim is to articulate and explore what working with data-enabled, connected things, machine learning algorithms, and computational models means in fields that position iterative processes of design experimentation as central to the production of knowledge. Online course 'Together we fix the Internet': co-created by CoECI, featuring Ben Wagner

Today's internet is broken. A handful of Big Tech companies dominate the market. Legislation lags behind, while civil and human rights are increasingly degraded by surveillance capitalism's unchecked intrusion into public and personal spaces. The problems facing the internet are systemic and complex, but they can be overcome. In the new online course ‘Samen Repareren we het Internet’ (in English: Together we fix the Internet) participants will learn about the main problems facing the internet and about alternative approaches to solve these problems. Lancering TU Delft AI Futures Lab Rights and Justice

Vorige week is het nieuwe TU Delft AI Futures Lab on Rights and Justice gelanceerd. Doel van het Lab is om in kaart te brengen hoe ontwerp van AI en machine learning ingezet kunnen worden ter ondersteuning van rechten en rechtvaardigheid.

Dr. Ben Wagner spreekt bij het Europees Parlement

Op 21 juni hield het PEGA committee van het Europees Parlement een uitwisseling van inzichten met vertegenwoordigers van de NSO groep. TBM Assistant Professor and Director of the AI Futures Lab on Rights and Justice Dr. Ben Wagner was aanwezig als spreker en sprak over 'Pegasus software and the global surveillance industry'. Hij sprak voornamelijk over wat de EU kan doen om schadelijke vormen van toezicht te verminderen of te voorkomen.
