GreenTU starts the third edition of Sustainability Label Awards at TU Delft
On 13 June, GreenTU handed out 'Sustainability Labels' to study, sports and cultural associations at TU Delft. The Sustainability Label represents all the efforts an association makes to become more sustainable. At TU Delft, 15 associations are participating in the Labels. They have a chance to win a gold, silver, or bronze Sustainability Label.
Noortje from GreenTU: 'With the Sustainability Labels, we are giving recognition to all sustainability activities on our campus. In doing so, we give associations the chance to improve in the field of sustainability every year.' Every association at TU Delft can compete for the Sustainability Label every year.
Sustainable measure
To participate in the Sustainability Label an association must complete a sustainability survey and send it to GreenTU. A total of 100 points can be achieved in this survey. These points are categorized in three categories organization, facilities, and career & education. Every association participates in the 'organization' category, the other two categories are only for the associations where these apply to.
When counting the achieved points and position of the Sustainability Label, the points are divided by the total points an association can achieve. These points are represented in gold, silver, bronze, or a sustainability certificate. Associations that are not yet eligible for a bronze Label will receive a Sustainability Certificate.
Label Ceremony
The Sustainability Labels and certificates were festively awarded by GreenTU at the Co-Creation Centre at The Green Village on 13 June from 15:45 to 18:00hrs. Before the ceremony, Hubert Linssen, programme manager Innovation Sustainability from Campus Real Estate, explained more about the various sustainability developments on campus and the importance of collaborating with students. This was followed by more inspiration and examples of how an association can become more sustainable from GreenTU. After this, the awarding of the Labels could start.
Best Practice
With a gold, silver or bronze label or certificate received, students talked about the Best Practices of the association. Students told about an all-vegetarian menu, their savings for innovation and sustainability and second-hand clothes for merchandise.
