New vacancy: Assistant/Associate Professor position on Programmable Infrastructures
We are excited to announce that the Organisation & Governance Section in the Department of Multi-Actor Systems at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management has an opening for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to work on Programmable Infrastructures. The section focuses on the governance of infrastructure systems such as water, energy, transport, urban or health systems from the perspective of social sciences and public administration in particular, and contributes to analysing institutional implications and improving decision-making processes.
The future candidate is invited to contribute to our ongoing research which investigates the role of computational infrastructures (cloud + mobile devices) concentrated in the hands of a few technology companies and its implications for digitalization of conventional infrastructures. In our ongoing project, with “programmable infrastructures” we refer to the political, economic and technological vision that advocates for the introduction of computational infrastructures onto our conventional infrastructures (e.g. transport, energy, ports, etc.). In particular, with this new person we hope to further explore how the vision of programmable infrastructures influences the shaping of these infrastructure industries and aim to develop methods to assess its societal implications in terms of the realization of public values.
