Cybersecurity
Within TU Delft’s Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, we manage a close-knit security and privacy team of more than 20 people from all over the world. The core of the team consists of computer scientists, complemented with researchers from social science, statistics, economics and other disciplines. The team has an empirical focus: we study the causal forces that shape security problems in the real world, as well as measure the effects of interventions. For this, we collaborate closely with industry and governments, creating visible impact with our results.
This real-world impact also helps our work to get published in leading venues like IEEE Security & Privacy, USENIX Security, ACM CCS, NDSS, ACM IMC, WWW and elsewhere. For example, our paper on cleaning up the Internet of evil things won the Distinguished Paper Award at NDSS 2019. The paper reports on a randomized control trial with a Dutch ISP. It combines network measurements with user interviews. Another example is our USENIX 2019 paper on platforms in criminal hosting services, analyzing the inside operations of a criminal enterprise in collaboration with the High Tech Crime Unit of the Dutch National Police.
Within TU Delft, we also closely collaborate in teaching, student supervision and research with our colleagues in the Cybersecurity group at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, partially through the 4TU Master of Cybersecurity and the Cyber Security Academy in The Hague.
We are always looking for interesting new ideas. Your ideas, perhaps? Have a look at our vacancies and please be in touch if you are interested in working with us.
