Aarthi Sundaram

I am a PhD researcher working in the Systems Engineering (SK) section of the Multi-Actor Systems (MAS) department within the Technology Policy and Management (TPM) faculty at TU Delft. My focus is on understanding and improving the role of computational models that are used to support decision-making for a just and equitable energy transition. Prior to my PhD I have been working as a consultant with the World Bank’s Climate Change Group and Social Protection & Jobs Practice, where I supported multiple country consultations using insights from microsimulation models to improve households’ resilience to climate change induced disasters. I hold a master’s degree in Engineering and Policy Analysis (EPA) from TPM, a PG Diploma in liberal studies from Ashoka University (India) and a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering also from India.

My overall research goals are to contribute meaningfully to model-based decision-support towards a low-carbon future. I hope to question, (re)evaluate and improve the role of models when supporting decisions that have societal implications.
