Víctor Muñoz Sanz is an Assistant Professor of Urban Design at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of TU Delft. His work examines architecture and urbanism at the intersection of technology and ecology. He holds a degree of Architecture and a PhD cum laude from ETSA Madrid, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design, with Distinction, from Harvard University. His Ph.D. received the 2018 Anthony Sutcliffe Dissertation Award of the International Planning History Society.
Víctor has been: Harvard’s Druker Traveling Fellow; Emerging Curator 2015-2016 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal, directing the audio-documentary Off:Re:OnShore; coordinator of research, publications, and public programme at the Jaap Bakema Study Centre, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam; co-principal researcher of ‘Automated Landscapes’ at Het Nieuwe Instituut; postdoctoral researcher at TU Delft, in the project ‘Cities of Making’; and most recently, fellow in Architecture at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart.
He is the co-editor of Habitat: Ecology Thinking in Architecture (NAI010, 2020), Footprint: Delft Architecture Theory Journal (2019), Robocar and Urban Space Evolution (TU Delft Open, 2018), Deconstruction (Het Nieuwe Instituut/Volume, 2017), Total Space (Het Nieuwe Instituut/Volume, 2016), and Extreme Urbanism 1 and 2 (Harvard GSD, 2011 and 2012).
Víctor has published essays in books and periodicals such as: Foundries of the Future: a Guide for 21st Century Cities of Making (TU Delft Open, 2020), Steel Cities: The Architecture of Logistics in Central and Eastern Europe (Park Books, 2020), Solitude Journal, Harvard Design Magazine, Bartlebooth, Work Body Leisure (Hatje Cantz, 2018), e-flux Architecture, Volume, and Domus.
He has also lectured internationally, among others at the Berlage Institute, Bezalel Academy, University of Edinburgh, Goldsmiths Centre for Research Architecture, Harvard University, University of Sheffield, and TU Delft.
His research on automation with Het Nieuwe Instituut was exhibited at the 2017 Vienna Biennale, and 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Fellow in Architecture
Fellowship programme of the Akademie Schloss-Solitude, Stuttgart. In residence during August 2019-January 2020. The Akademie Schloss Solitude is a public-law foundation that offers an interdisciplinary and international fellowship program for artists and scientists. Since 1990, the Akademie has supported artists in the disciplines of architecture, visual arts, performing arts, design, literature, music/sound and video/film/new media with residency and work fellowships. Since 2002, young people from the science and business sectors are also eligible for fellowships with the art, science & business program. The Akademie Schloss Solitude is financially supported by the German province of Baden-Württemberg.

Honorable Mention, Call for Fellows of Het Nieuwe Instituut
Through an international open call for research fellows, Het Nieuwe Instituut invited practitioners and researchers in the fields of architecture, design, and digital culture to work in residence from June to December 2016 and develop an independent research proposal. In consideration of the exceptional quality of the applications and the relevance of the topics presented, the jury decided to expand the number of fellowships from three to four.
The selected fellows were Andrea Bagnato with Terra Infecta, Simone Niquille with The Contents, Noam Toran with Black and White and Red All Over and Füsun Türetken with Alchemic Dialogue. The jury also chose to recognise three applicants with honorable mentions: Víctor Muñoz Sanz, Michèle Champagne, and the collective m-a-u-s-e-r.
