Biografie
Dr. Pooria (Lotfollah) Pahlavan is an assistant professor in the department of Maritime and Transport Technology (MTT). His main area of research and expertise is quantitative structural health monitoring (SHM) and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of metallic and composite structures. Pooria has a solid background in development of active and passive SHM systems across a wide spectrum of technology readiness levels (TRLs), i.e. development of advanced simulation tools including higher order spectral finite element methods, design and optimization of sensor systems, development of innovative physics-based data processing methodologies for quantitative damage assessment, small- and large-scale laboratory evaluations, and field demonstrations for both research and business-to-business projects.
Before joining MTT in March 2018, Pooria’s professional experience comprised six years at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) leading the scientific developments related to SHM of civil infrastructures, four years of PhD research at the group of Aerospace Structures and Computational Mechanics at TU Delft, three years of entrepreneurship in industrial automation, and three years of mechanical/automation engineering.
Pooria’s main mission at TU Delft is to combine fundamental and applied research to promote the area of quantitative SHM for maritime and offshore structures.
