Profiel
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at TU Delft in the Process & Energy department within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. My work focuses on simulations of membrane-less alkaline electrolysis prototypes. This research employs advanced CFD techniques, including multiphase simulations, to optimize electrolyzers capable of producing hydrogen while purifying industrial wastewater streams.
Prior to this position, my research expertise encompassed both open-source and commercial CFD and process tools, including OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics, and Aspen Plus. During my Ph.D., I conducted complex multiphysics simulations for various applications, utilizing HPC resources such as Finland's LUMI supercomputer and Aalborg University's CLAAUDIA cluster. I also integrated machine learning and reduced-order modeling into CFD workflows to enhance simulation efficiency and accuracy. My programming proficiency includes Python for data preprocessing and postprocessing, as well as C++ for developing solvers, boundary conditions, and function objects in OpenFOAM.
As a research assistant in a collaboration between Aalborg University and Aalborg Portland, I worked on process simulations for carbon capture technologies, performing techno-economic analyses and optimizing energy efficiency to significantly reduce the energy penalty. This project provided me with hands-on experience in machine learning applications and process optimization.
Before pursuing my Ph.D., I worked as an R&D researcher at Iranian Catalyst Development, where I conducted CFD simulations of process equipment, developed experimental setups, and contributed to patent development. These experiences strengthened my ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experimental insights.
Driven by a passion for leveraging computational tools to address real-world challenges, I am enthusiastic about advancing sustainable technologies and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to achieve impactful results.
