Water for Impact Programme officially launched on 9 September

On September 9th the TU Delft | Water for Impact programme was launched at the Green Village. This programme is part of the TU Delft | Global Initiative and centers on valuing water, specifically the need for safe and affordable water for everyone around the world. Researchers and students collaborate beyond faculty boundaries, and beyond their own water discipline.

Programme leader Dr. Doris van Halem opened the afternoon and welcomed the audience which was limited at 60 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following this Claire Hallewas, programme manager of the TU Delft | Global Initiative, received the first TU Delft | Water for Impact brochure. Four researchers (Juan Carlo Intriago Zambano, prof. Nick van de Giesen, Didier de Villiers, and prof. Merle de Kreuk) shared their projects in brief presentations and showcased the diversity of the programme. The afternoon was closed with an interactive quiz testing the audience’s knowledge on water.

The aim of TU Delft | Water for Impact is to promote water research that contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals agenda, and has multidisciplinary science, technology and innovation at the core of their work. More than 152 researchers work with 68 partners in 24 countries across seven themes. These themes are Water for: food, industry, environment, drinking, cities, health, and values.
